A&E Crisis

Last year almost 19,000 patients waited over 12 hours to be treated or admitted in our Wirral hospitals. 

Wirral’s LibDems lead the fight to outlaw A&E waiting time for more than 12 hours and are demanding a new law to prevent anyone having to endure these long waits.

Under both the Conservatives and Labour Governments waiting times have spiralled out of control. In 2025 alone 18,940 of our residents were left waiting 12 hours or more at hospitals in Wirral. (Across England it was more than 1.5 million)

Our plan would bring these long waits and corridor care to an end within a year making more beds available in hospitals and care homes. Our NHS staff work so hard, but have been let down by those in power, and for too long people have suffered with degrading waits and treatment in hospital corridors. It’s time we had real action to fix this.
